Hips not squared, hamstrings and knees hurting, seeing no progress in touching the floor etc. - these are common experiences when working on your front splits. Develop the required strength and range to improve your splits, allowing you to enter into and exit from them safely. With a stronger baseline, be able to hold your splits actively in a pain-free way.
